What Does Rest Even Look Like?! My First Monday in Amsterdam

As much as I talked about rest, and being excited about it...day 4 here in Amsterdam and I realized that I have no idea how to actually rest. Like... what do you mean I have an extra 8 hours to myself in the middle of the day now?! What do you mean that my weekends are just like my weekdays?! Wait, can I just watch an extra 8 hrs of netflix??? just kidding... (but in my defense, Netflix in Europe has shows and movies out that aren't airing yet in the US.) So this weekend I literally stressed about how I was going to rest.

Less than 24 Hours in Niagara Falls

I've wanted to go to Niagara Falls for awhile.... I'm not sure why the Falls trumps places like Vegas or some other fun party city (well, maybe because i act like I'm 80) but if I've learned anything during these past couple of years, it's to always take opportunities and just go with it.

So when the perfect weekend window showed up and the weather was supposed to amazing, my friend and I thought, "why the hell not? we don't got no kids, we don't got no homework, and we don't got no responsibilities." She had points to help break the cost of a rental car and we had some $$ for a hotel room.... so... carpe diem, am i right?

Adventuring with Mozart

Last weekend, due to a series of very fortunate events and a stellar friend who works for the NYC philharmonic, I got to see the NYC Philharmonic play Mozart at the David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center.

Weekend Getaways

This month has been such a busy month, with over the last 3 weekends spent outside of New York (each weekend in a different state)! And as much as I'm starting to slowly (maybe painstakingly?) enjoy NYC life,  being able to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city is so so so nice.

Shakespeare in the Park Tips

Oh ROMEO, oh ROMEO, wherefore art thou ROMEO.

That's about the only Shakespeare line I know from heart. However, my one NYC bucket list item has always been to go see Shakespeare in the Park (SP). So when I heard last Friday that they were giving away tickets at the Harlem borough, close to my work, I literally ran all the way there. I never run. I was the 10th person or so in line before they ran out of tickets. BUT by the miracle of God, when I walked away from the booth, a kind man in his bicycle handed me a ticket!!! (It was like i was destined to go and it felt like I won the Golden Ticket). As a SP newbie, here are some tips for what I wish I knew beforehand:

Chasing Fire and Ice- An Iceland adventure!

It's been exactly 11 days since I got back from my iceland trip. That's how many days it took me to recover from my "vacation" and have the strength to pull words out to blog about it. I put vacation in quotes because vacations are usually relaxing and entails lounging on the beach with copious amounts of alcohol in hand. Instead I was trudging through snow, battling a cold, fighting jet lag, hiking around. So nope, this was not a vacation...THIS WAS AN ADVENTURE.
