He Just Doesn't Get Her

Couples fighting is so awkward yet so hilarious. It's amazing and funny how humans interact, especially from a third party perspective. But in the end, fighting is a bunch of miscommunication and misunderstanding and confusion about how a person can't be exactly like you. My neighbors (i believe unmarried) fight all the time.

Spicing Up Life with Photography

It's been over a month since my last blog post! My lack of writing is not because i'm so busy... but because life has become quite routine...

Computers and Mothers

Yesterday i spent 2 hours on the phone with my mom trying to help her buy and download MS office on her computer. And in the end, I'm for certain that the reason why we have technology is not to make our lives easier, but a way for us to pay back our parents for all the times we were annoying to them...

Here's what 2 hours of my life was like last night:

Brunching in NYC

The first thing sister #1 said to me when i told her i'd like to move into NYC was "ohhh you can do brunch in the city on saturday mornings!!!!" like this was the "thing" to do. Turns out.. oh wait.. it actually is a thing. (side note: nyc is apparently brunch capital. all the cool kids are doing it. you should too)

And so with my mom visiting again, this time, i decided to treat them out to this glamorous NYC brunch that we all see on tv and movies. It was going to be like sex in the city brunch time... but with mom and sister....

Crazy Beliefs From Korea :)

Sister #1 is total obedient, first child syndrome to the max, kind of person. which means that after she had her baby, she's abiding to several of the korean post-baby delivery rules. As i was explaining to my coworker some of these traditions, we got into the topic of other weird beliefs from around the world. And surprisingly, some of the beliefs from AFrica and Korea were similar! Anyways, as a Korean, I thought i'd share some crazy korean beliefs.

My First Stab at Changing a Diaper

Now that i'm an aunt (huzzah!) today i changed my first diaper! Kind of. sort of? okay not really. But it's a learning process!

A started crying and my sister who was napping asked "can you change her?" And i said "sure!" So i placed A gently on the changing table and undid her diaper...

Getting Ready for Adulthood

Growing up, my favorite thing about school was nothing to do with school itself but just the first day. I loved getting new notebooks and pencils and i loved buying a back to school outfit. Remember the back to school list every teacher gave out? best list ever. Sadly, since there is no more back to school for me... naturally i decided that i would just treat my first day of work like a first day of school! yay! buy ALL the things!

Labor Day Weekend- A Glimpse into the Future

Today for labor day, i went over to a house for a bbq where most, if not all, were married and had children. And as i sat there with 3 children, 1 baby, and 2 toddlers running around, i thought to myself "omg. where is the alcohol..."

My Virgin Hair Lost its Virginity

This past summer, for some odd reason, highlights in my hair have been on my mind. But i've been putting it off because when it comes to my physical appearance, i stick to what i know. I don't like going outside of my comfort zone and "experimenting" But with sister #1's urging and her telling me, "YOURE YOUNG! THIS IS WHEN YOU SHOULD DO IT!" I finally decided that I would try something new.

Tattin It Up??

So now that i've found a job, I can proudly cross off "Find job" in my "Life Goal To-do List". Which means I can hopefully move onto goal #2: Get a tattoo.

Taking a Risk and Refusing to Settle

This past May I graduated with my masters degree. With an additional $60K+ in debt, I finally finished my education (sorry mom and dad, i'm NOT getting my phd) and was ready to make me some money, conquer the world, and live that "instagram" life of being a foodie, buying chic clothes, and having a martha stewart-esq apartment. But alas, reality hit and I realized I had no job to do any of that...including even buying a latte. That's real rock bottom. =(

My First Massage Experience- Deep Tissue

A couple of days ago, before my mom left for back home, my sister  decided she would treat me and our mom out to some relaxin massage time. Ive never gotten a professional massage, but my friends have talked about how relaxing it is and my sister raved about how awesome it feels afterwards... and i've gotten some from friends and it felt good! So okay. fine. convinced. lets go.

The spa wasn't a fancy place but the price was very very good for an hour long deep tissue massage and came highly recommended personally and on yelp ($35). There were several different choices but I decided to go for the whole body + 10 minutes of hot stone treatment. Here's what I learned about massages

Pretending to be Cultured at the Guggenheim

My mom loves art museums, mainly because she studied art and is an artist herself! And since she's visiting NY where a plethora of art exhibits exist, we decided to take her to one! Although she really likes modern art, she'd already been to MoMA on one of her previous NY visits, and so we decided to take her to the guggenheim. In her words, "oh! that museum! i saw it in my art books!" Done.

NYC Restaurant Week- Review of DB Bistro Moderne

Because my mom is visiting, sister #1 decided to treat us out to lunch during NYC 's restaurant week! Seriously, it's so awesome having a sister that works (sister #2, if you're reading this, hurry and make some of that doctor money!) Anyways, after a week of deciding where the best place to go to was, we settled on "db bistro moderne", french cuisine! oui, oui! So here goes my very first restaurant review!

Meeting Mr. Batman

My mom arrived last saturday, which means that I'm kicked out of the room for the time being and crashing on the couch. And since i'm not a very heavy sleeper, yesterday morning, at 4 am, i woke up to a sudden clicking sound in the backroom....

Confession time: i have a fear of sounds in the dark. And so naturally, I went into full alert mode and the first thing that came to mind was, "oh sh*t there's a burglar in the house."... not gonna lie, I went through some pretty awful scenarios (i need to stop watching criminal minds). But then, out of the corner of my eye, I saw something black flutter by....

Car Emergency Tools You Should Always Carry

Yesterday, sister #1, who is preggers, was stuck in a flash flood when her car started flooding and she couldn't get out. Talk about scary...Her car ended up flooding all the way past her hip! And then, during the winter, my mom was stuck in her car for almost 8 hours when atlanta became paralyzed due to a sprinkle of snow and ice.  And so I decided to research and make a list of items everyone should have in their car for weather related emergencies!

Seche Vite Review

One of the things my oldest sister and I like to do, is to paint our nails. Yes, it sounds super girly, but it's a great, cheap, bonding activity, especially given that she and I are almost 8 years apart. In fact, she was the one who took me for the very first time to get my nails done... which was in college! Yep, I never got my nails done in high school for prom or for homecoming. I guess I couldn't justify what seemed like so much, back then, especially because my nails grow super fast and they always, always chip.

Doula / Dude-la

Since my sister is having a baby, naturally almost every conversation during dinner leads to a topic about babies. My sister is thinking of having a natural, no-epidural birth. Jokingly, her husband told her he didn't think she could do it! and so my sister countered back, "FINE. I NEED SOMEONE WHO BELIEVES IN ME. IM GOING TO GET A DOULA!"everyone stopped talking and stared at her. A what???

Tackling Hard Water

Having recently moved to a new location, the first thing I noticed was the effect the water had on my body, especially my face and hair. NJ seems to have particularly hard water, as does a good portion of the US. Given the way it was effecting how clean I felt, and because i'm the type to google every life problem, I decided I needed to get to the bottom of this!

What's In a Baby's Name?

Sister #1 is having a baby girl very very soon! Coming from a very opinionated family of mostly girls, my sister is having trouble deciding a baby's name. She has about a month left before the arrival of my niece, and she's still struggling with the whole thing! So i asked her to write about what she looks for in a baby's name.

Oysters&Seafood Galore!

One great thing about living in Baltimore is the seafood! And a particular favorite restaurant of mine, Ryleigh's,  started their "Tuesday Shore Nights" for the summer! It's basically specials on crabs, oysters, shrimps, delicious corn covered in cheese...i'm seriously salivating thinking about it. And a special bonus, almost everything is covered in Old Bay! If you don't know what old bay is, you're basically missing out on life.

Grapefruit Yogurt Recipe

During finals time, I'm always looking for something quick to make/eat and something that will fill me up. Usually I revert to vending machine chips, soda, and coffee... but Sister #2 has been talking nonstop about "flax seed" and how much it fills her up (also along with all the health benefits). So in an attempt to be healthy and nice to my body, I went  to the grocery store and picked up some organic flax seed!
